Starting in the shadow of the iconic St.Paul's cathedral, we explore the tiny backstreets and rambling courtyards the ancient City of London is famous for. We follow in the drunken footsteps of literary greats including Dickens, Shakespeare, Pepys & Johnson whilst pausing for a drink in at least 4 of the most historic pubs dating as far back as the 1500's. From discovering art nouveau gems to glamorous Victorian gin palaces we enjoy a variety of pub styles and breweries along the way. It's not a prescriptive tour, so you choose & pay for your drinks along the way. We're here to offer recommendations, and you can often "sip before you sup" with a few tasters on request from the bars along the way. This allows you to indulge as much or as little as you desire! Non-drinkers can soak up the history, and wine & gin-lovers are also well catered for. We usually finish up on the edge of Covent Garden perfect for theatre-land, restaurants and of course more pubs! Join me as we explore London's wild spaces after dark to discover the amazing world of bats. As dusk falls, mysterious creatures emerge from under bridges and out of old trees to hunt. Surrounded by myth and misconceptions, bats are a truly unique group of animals, and much misunderstood. The focus will be on learning all about bats and their unique biology, why they are so important as ecological 'keystone species', how they navigate in the dark and how each species is highly adapted to its way of life. We'll watch them hunting in various habitats, and excitingly we will use handheld electronic bat detectors to listen to their ultrasonic echolocation calls. You'll learn how to identify various species, from the tiny flitting Pipistrelles that can fit into a matchbox, to the incredible and comical looking Brown Long Eared bat. With luck, we may spot the Daubenton's or water bat skimming the water surface like a tiny hovercraft. Or our largest bat, the Noctule, almost bird-like flying in open skies with it's military 'chip-chop' call. We frequently encounter other nocturnal wildlife too, like owls, foxes, hedgehogs and badgers. Who knows what the evening will reveal! Other things to note Social distancing can be observed, bat detectors wiped down between uses. The walk is very safe as many joggers and walkers use the Heath to cut through, even in late evenings. Master the art of riding these splendid machines on a tour through Westminster in central London. After meeting us at London Scottish House, 95 Horseferry Road, Westminster, SW1P 2DX, we will introduce you to the Penny Farthing bicycle, provide you with your equipment including helmets and let you know what you will be doing during the experience. Then we will head out onto the streets where you will learn to safely mount, ride and dismount. Keen to ride more? After a short coffee break, we will head out on a leisurely guided journey around the Westminster area, past many iconic locations such as the Palace of Westminster, Parliament Square, Churchill War Rooms, the gardens of 10 Downing Street and Buckingham Palace. After a short photo stop we will then roll on back to London Scottish House and return to the present day! IMPORTANT NOTE: This sporting experience is physically demanding and therefore only recommended for people with a reasonable level of fitness and those under the age of retirement. You must be at least 5ft 3in (160 cm) tall, weigh less than 100 kgs (220 Lbs) and be in good physical shape. It helps if guests are already competent and confident bike riders on public roads.

Learn the art of wax carving and sculpting to form your very own unique silver ring, in this widely used jewellery making technique. Carving wax gives you endless options to freely design whatever ring you want, as you are not limited to a silver wire or strip. This technique allows you to create something 3D, abstract, classic, chunky, geometric or organic, so you can let your imagination run wild! The workshop begins with a short introduction to the lost wax process and its uses. We will inform you about basic tips and tricks on how to design a comfortable ring. Showing you various techniques and tools that can be used. You will then start by designing/sketching out your ring, (samples and images will be available for inspiration) before beginning to carve your wax. Once you’re happy with your finished carving we will show you how to prepare it for casting. After the workshop your wax carved ring will be cast, finished and polished by The Ringsmiths using recycled silver. You will be contacted once it’s ready for collection or we can post it out to you. If you wish to have your ring gold plated, stone set, engraved or have your wax cast in solid gold then this will be at an additional cost and can be paid for and decided on the day (adds extra lead time) Your finished silver ring will be ready for collection or posting within 3 working weeks after the class.

It is not uncommon to feel both intrigued and confused by a piece of contemporary art. Allow me to guide you through the galleries of Tate Modern on a curious inquiry into what we see, and hopefully, during the 2 hours that we spend together, you will acquire the skills of looking, seeing and talking about art. What we see in art is always influenced by a whole host of assumptions. When we see a piece of art, we are not just looking; we are reading the language of images, be it Monet’s Water Lilies or a feminist sculpture. Instead of lecturing you using a list of dry biographical facts, I would like to encourage you to trust your own eyes and instincts and think of art in front of you in a more personal way. How did abstract art come about? Does the gender of the artists matter? What is the place of women in art making? Are there any differences in the approach to art making between male and female artists? What happened to sculpture in the 20th century? Is photography art? Who decided what is art and what isn’t and can art change the world? Do we have to like what we see in order to understand it and vice-versa? We will talk in-depth about all of these questions. No prior knowledge of art is required, everyone is welcome. This Experience is great for solo travellers, couples, families, groups of friends and for team-bonding.

All groups will meet outside the Dominion Theatre at Tottenham Court Road underground station, and go on a 2 hour walking tour exploring the streets of Soho. You won't believe how much musical talent was crammed into one small iconic street! The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix...the list goes on and on. We’ll explore where the Sex Pistols squatted, not forgetting where Elton John got his first ever job as a tea boy! Moving on to the venue that Brian Epstein, manager of the Beatles, took over and put on the legendary Jimi Hendrix one fateful night in 1967! It's then onto Soho square and see where Paul McCartneys business headquarters are. British RocknRoll began at this coffee bar which is just round the corner to arguably the most famous of London music venues, where nearly every major artist has played! Enjoy the spot where John Lennon took part in a famous comedy routine. Stand in the spot where the Oasis album cover was taken, before moving onto the studio where David Bowie recorded Hunky Dory and where the Beatles recorded the first release on Apple records! For those that want to continue we will then finish in an beautiful old, historic English pub, which has had many famous guests over the years, where I will tell you stories of my own personal involvement in the music business!

After the walking tour, we then head to Buckingham Palace where you will enter the Queens Royal Residence and visit the State Rooms! We will head through Green Park to Buckingham Palace, where we'll watch the world-famous Changing of the Guard ceremony (daily during the summer months). After witnessing this traditional ritual, we'll head to Westminster. Sights we'll see along the way include Downing Street, Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, Horse Guard Parade, Big Ben, and the Houses of Parliament. Our last stop in Westminster is Parliament Square where we will gaze upon the largest of all the Royal Palaces: The Palace of Westminster. You will then go to Buckingham Palace (we will show you the way) We do not go in the Palace with you (The Royal family are insistent on this as they have devised a very very good audio tour for you!!)
